Princeton Summer Safety Tips

Category: Technology and Safety

Author: Jason Turner, Plant Operations Director

As summer heats up, we at The Princeton Senior Living prioritize maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for our older adult residents. Rising temperatures present unique challenges, especially in our senior living community, where residents are more vulnerable to heat-related issues. Our maintenance team follows some essential safety measures to ensure a safe, smooth-running, and pleasant summer for everyone.

We inspect air conditioning units regularly to ensure they function correctly and replace air filters to maintain air quality. Thermostats are set at comfortable temperatures, and cooling is monitored in common areas and resident rooms.

Team’s Maintenance and Safety Measures

  • Provide shaded seating in outdoor areas
  • Inspect and repair walkways to prevent trips
  • Increase pest control to keep areas free from insects
  • Check ventilation in common areas and kitchens
  • Inspect electrical systems to prevent overloads
  • Clean roofs and gutters to avoid leaks and water damage

We educate residents on staying hydrated and avoiding peak heat hours by distributing flyers and holding meetings. We also promote indoor activities during extreme heat to keep residents engaged and safe.

In our community, we go above and beyond to ensure the safety and comfort of our residents. We spray and clean the air conditioner condenser coils, place thermometers in the courtyards to monitor temperatures, and oversee residents who decide to go out in the heat. A valuable summer safety tip for all Arrow communities is to monitor temperatures and the duration residents are exposed to the heat, ensuring they stay hydrated. This level of care and preparation demonstrates our deep concern for our community and its residents.

By following these tips, we are reinforcing our commitment to ensuring The Princeton Senior Living remains safe, comfortable, and enjoyable for all residents and staff throughout the summer months. Our dedication to maintaining a secure environment is unwavering and essential to everyone’s well-being.
