As our homes go through the freeze and thaw cycles, it is important that we take valuable and proactive steps to prevent issues. Due to the tilt of the Earth’s axis, the northern hemisphere begins to see the winter-scape come back to life with daffodils blooming, grass greening, and temperatures warming during late March into early April. As exciting as that can be, so many things need to be done to prepare for the warmer season, including spring cleaning, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors tested, and filters changed.
The activities I do to prepare for warmer weather include adjusting thermostats, change out air filters, spring cleaning outside of building, and sprucing things up on the inside. I also clean coils on outdoor air conditioner units, clean the carpets, and give the community an overall deep cleaning.
The benefit of preparing ahead is it lowers utility bills, makes the building look better, puts people in a happy mood, and makes the community more welcoming.
I also like to use this time of year to consider changes to my health and personal budgeting.
