The Princeton Senior Living Celebrates National Nurses Week

National Nurses Week begins each year on May 6th and ends on May 12th, Florence Nightingale’s birthday. These permanent dates enhance planning and position National Nurses Week as an established recognition event. As of 1998, May 8 was designated as National Student Nurses Day, to be celebrated annually. And as of 2003, National School Nurse Day is celebrated on the Wednesday within National Nurses Week (May 6-12) each year. The nursing profession has been supported and promoted by the American Nurses Association (ANA) since 1896.

What I love about the Regional Nursing staff is they are not only accessible, but also willing and able to help you answer your wellness questions and address current situations. Led by Brooke Glenn, regional nurses are helping our community complete more than 25 residents’ health assessments. This is timely, allowing us to stay on track with the lease signings and the move-in process.

The nurses at the regional office continue to support The Princeton community. Having a regional nurse visit our community almost daily allows the residents’ care to continue with ongoing communication and consultation between regional nurses and our charge nurses, as well as between the regional nurse and resident families.

The residents would also agree that the nurses are accessible, and they not only respond to their needs immediately, but also follow up with the resident for further observations and to answer residents’ questions.

A big shout out goes to Brooke Glenn, Holly Belanger, and Billy House-Henry, for their ongoing help to get us through the assessment process. Brooke and Holly have also been a big help with onboarding our new nurses. I would also like to recognize Rob Cain and the nurses at The Princeton community.

The wellness team stepped up to support the community throughout the COVID-19 pandemic by having and following COVID policies and procedures, with regular follow-up discussions. Recent updates to the policy and procedures, along with All-Call discussions, have made the implementation of mask wearing, screening, PPE, and testing a flawless task.

We plan to recognize our nurses at The Princeton Senior Living Lee’s Summit, MO during National Nurses Week by providing community meals along with individual and department recognitions.
